Shay Morris started dancing at the age of 3 and hopes to never stop. She trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary, showcasing her versatility and passion for the art. Throughout her competitive dance career, Shay was awarded regional and national top awards as a soloist and consistently contributed to multiple championship teams. In high school, she not only excelled in dance but also served as Captain of her Cheerleading Squad and was an active member of the dance company.

Shay pursued her passion further at Utah Valley University, where she became an integral part of the Dance Program. Her leadership skills shone through as she took on the role of Executive Board Member for the Utah Dance Judges Association (UDJA), proudly serving as Vice President of Public Relations and Wasatch Front Representative. Shay’s dance expertise has been utilized by the UDJA, and she brings years of experience judging drill teams, giving her a deep understanding of choreography and performance standards.

Early on, Shay discovered a true passion for teaching and connecting with students, which fueled her desire to inspire the next generation of dancers. She expanded her teaching by diving into the drill team world. Currently, as a proud coach of the Davis drill team, she plays an integral role in their program’s success. The team is recognized as a top competitor in Utah, and have achieved remarkable accolades. Her choreography has garnered numerous honors, including “Best Choreography,” “Top Score,” “Choreography Pick,” and “Judges Choice.”

In addition to coaching, Shay loves working on flexibility and lines with her dancers and has created her own stretch program to enhance their skills further. She happily splits her time between her studio home, Synergy Academy, coaching the Davis High D’Ettes drill team, and cherishing moments with her family, making sure to instill her love for dance into everything she does. Shay’s enduring dedication, combined with her extensive experience, continues to shape both her students and the wider dance community for years to come.
