Joelle Banford

Joelle Banford began her dance training under the guidance of Penny Broussard at The Winner School. A standout performer, she spent three years as a member and captain of her high school drill team. Her dedication earned her both dance and academic scholarships, culminating in a Bachelor’s degree.

Early in her career, Joelle traveled across the United States as an instructor with the United Spirit Association (USA), where she taught dance teams and led leadership camps. While she has taught at various studios, schools, and universities, her home studio remains Synergy Academy in West Jordan, Utah.

A pivotal moment in Joelle’s career was assisting Monica Campbell in teaching “Diavolo Dance Company Techniques” to university students. This experience ignited a passion for choreography with a unique focus on sets and structures. Her work has since gained recognition, including choreographing for the BYU Cougarettes’ 70th anniversary concert. In the competitive studio scene, her choreography has earned numerous top honors, such as “Top Convention,” “Best Direction,” “Best Choreography,” and “People’s Choice” awards at both local and national competitions.

Joelle continues to collaborate with top-tier talent and has developed a specialized technique curriculum called “Turnworx.” She currently provides advanced technique instruction for the BYU Cougarettes and the UVU Dance Team (UVDT). She partnered with Dance Labs to create advanced and elite online turns courses, solidifying her reputation as one of the most sought-after turns and technique specialists in the western U.S. She is now working on launching the “Turnworx Teacher Certification” program, extending her expertise to dance educators.
