Cienne Bethea
Cienne Bethea has a long history in the pursuit of dance excellence. She began dance classes at age four at a local dance studio in Mesa Arizona where she was born and raised. There she learned the basics of tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop and contemporary movement. She studied there for several years while also being a member of the dance company. She competed at regional and national levels, attending competitions and conventions within Arizona, Hollywood California, and Las Vegas Nevada. She received many scholarship opportunities through competition auditions.
At a young age, Cienne began pre-professional ballet training in Scottsdale Arizona at Master Ballet Academy with Slawomir and Irena Wozniak. She studied there for five years on a track that required homeschooling to accommodate her intensive dance training. She studied ballet, pointe, partnering, neo-classical and contemporary dance during her time at Master Ballet Academy in addition to competing for the contemporary company Limitless at Master Ballet Academy. This company attended The Dance Awards in Las Vegas as well as several regional competitions. Cienne won a variety of scholarships through Break the Floor Productions/The Dance Awards during this time.
Her ballet training allowed for many performance opportunities that included yearly Nutcracker performances with Phoenix Ballet (multiple soloist roles), Spring Show performances with Phoenix Ballet (Paquita, Graduation Ball) and a company tour with Phoenix Ballet to Poland as a Second Company member. She attended summer intensives with Master Ballet Academy from 2012-2016 and also received scholarships to summer intensives in New York City (Ellison Ballet, Max and Irina Summer Intensive) and Houston (Houston Ballet). She was able to compete at YAGP (Youth America Grand Prix) in Austin Texas and earned a top 12 finish in both ballet and contemporary categories. Cienne also served as a ballet model for Discount Dance Supply and was an ambassador for the company/magazine for two years.
In 2017, Cienne returned to the world of competitive dance at Club Dance in Mesa Arizona. She held positions on their pre-pro dance company, as well as hip hop company. She competed for Club Dance at The Dance Awards for two years in Las Vegas, Nevada. During this time, Cienne also auditioned for and made her high school Pom team at The American Leadership Academy in Gilbert Arizona, serving as Captain for two of her three years on the team. She helped lead her school team to two regional and state first place championships in their division. She co-choreographed their state winning pom routine in 2019.
After high school, Cienne danced for Brigham Young University as a Cougarette for four years (2020-2024). During this time, the Cougarettes won 7 National Titles through NDA in Daytona Beach, Florida. She also performed at Cougarettes in Concert each year, and co-choreographed and choreographed several pieces performed in the shows. Cienne served as President of the Cougarettes her last year on the team. Cienne currently dances with Continuum Dance Co., based in Utah County. She is currently finishing her education at Brigham Young University as a Journalism major. She loves continuing to dance and has choreographed several contemporary solos for dancers competing at regional and national YAGP competitions. She loves teaching her students at Synergy.
